Since the last newsletter was distributed I have taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer and have for the past few months found the role to be both challenging and rewarding.
The GEGPN has completed another accreditation audit in February with IHCA and received our Certificate of Registration until April 2013. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all staff for their participation and dedication to ensuring that the GEGPN continue the high standard of compliance.
I am pleased to advise that the GEGPN has been successful in obtaining funding to provide a Mental Health team to provide services to Wiluna over the next three years. The Social and Emotional Wellbeing team servicing the communities of Leonora, Laverton, Mr Margaret, Southern Cross, Leinster and Norseman have received additional funding until July 2011. These services are well utilised. Yasmin Sambo the Aboriginal Health Worker on this team has resigned, we would like to wish her well for the future. Recruitment is under way to fill this position.
The GEGPN has also received funding for ‘Closing the Gap’ and has recruited a Program Officer Aboriginal Health, Natalie Fay and are in the process of recruiting an Indigenous Outreach Worker. The GEGPN is one of three Networks that received the funding in WA.
It is with regret that I advise that Katie Northam the Dietician has resigned and has moved to Perth following her partners transfer. Katie has made a significant contribution to the GEGPN and its programs and we take the opportunity to wish them well in their new endeavours.
The coming months will be taken up with our Annual Plan which remains part of the new Multi Program Agreement. Considerable effort will be focused on our reporting process and we are well placed to respond to any queries. |
