- Senior General Practitioner Bega Garnbirringu health Service Aboriginal Corporation
Established in 1983 as a part time clinic in South Kalgoorlie, Bega has grown and now operates from premises at
16-18 MacDonald Street, Kalgoorlie. "Bega Garnbirringu" means "Sickness Gets Better”. Bega engages a holistic
approach to
service provision and hosts a general practice clinic, chronic disease detection, treatment and prevention, health
promotion and health education, and a social support unit to the Indigenous population of Kalgoorlie Boulder and
immediate surrounds
Bega is a not for profit Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service and has an Executive Committee comprising
solely of members from the Aboriginal Communities. 5 GP's work closely with Aboriginal Health Workers and
nurses as well as being supported by a range of allied health services such as drug and alcohol and a number of
visiting medical specialists including a dentist, ENT specialist, ophthalmologist and renal physician.
The successful applicant will lead the current GP's in clinical practice and governance as well as support GP
Registrar placements with Bega. Involvement on the Medical Advisory Committee at Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital
as well as participation on Indigenous health related working groups will be a requirement. Applicants should
possess relevant medical qualifications including FRACGP and have highly developed interpersonal skills and
a desire to become culturally connected with the community. This position will be permanent full time working
Monday-Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm with participation in the GP's after hours on call roster at Kalgoorlie Regional
Hospital. An attractive salary package will be offered including optional salary packaging, housing allowance,
six weeks annual leave and two weeks study leave along with substantial professional development.
Total Salary package $240,000-$270,000
